The
General
Council for Massage Therapy is the emerging Organisation for the
Self-Regulation of Massage Therapy in the UK.
The
GCMT is a non-profit making body comprising the major professional
associations in Massage Therapy with the following aims and objectives:-

To
promote the adoption of high standards of practice in Massage Therapy.
Thereby to offer the public the means of accessing treatment of
high professional standard

To
establish a nationwide professionally determined Standard of Training,
Conduct and Competence for the protection of the public.

To
act as a unifying body by bringing together organisations engaged in
representing or teaching Massage Therapy.
And
to these ends in due course;

To
establish and maintain a single register of qualified Massage Practitioners

To
examine and accredit training institutions in Massage Therapy.

To
establish standards for Continuing Professional Development of Registered
Practitioners.
