Treating Migraine

We, at the Brooks-Carter Clinic have a special interest in Migraine, to the extent that we are able, in many cases, to give control of the event back to the sufferer.  That is, they are able to live normally without resorting to the use of drugs, many of which are medically admitted to be ineffective.

The treatments given at the Brooks-Carter Clinic are a fresh and entirely logical approach, are non-invasive, pain free and do not use any form of tablet, pill or potion.

MIGRAINE & MANIPULATIVE THERAPY

  • relieves Migraine by helping to restore alignment in the neck and head.  Imbalances in other parts of the body may be causing or contributing to the migraine problem.  The Manipulative Therapist will check your whole structure and then work on the bones of the head to ease them into the position of ease.  This usually means that the migraine attacks are less frequent, less intense or better still are a thing of the past
  • attacks lessen because with a more balanced structure, there is less likelihood of the vasoconstriction / vasodilation that occurs in migraine
  • treatment is safe and gentle so can be used with babies, young children, the older generation and all in between with confidence
  • treatment helps to reduce inflammation and slow down degeneration.  Treatment boosts circulation, which tends to slow down with time
  • the feel good factor - treatments are pleasant - means that the healing agents of the body itself are triggered into action.  The body’s own painkillers will also be released
  • helps to restore health.  Constant attacks of migraine are debilitating.  They affect families and the workers around the sufferer.  Overall health usually improves as the migraine attacks become fewer.   People suffering from conditions such as asthma and other respiratory problems, M.E. (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome), Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Back Pain, abdominal pain and other problems have benefited from Manipulative Therapy treatment - a bonus for the migraine sufferer
  • assists with the health problems of all ages and occupations.  We treat babies, children of all ages, mums and mums-to-be, dads, workers (many problems are related to work), teenagers, school and college students, grandparents, athletes and sports people..... the list is endless.

MIGRAINE AND MASSAGE

Research has shown that massage is one of the most effective forms of treatments for migraine particularly if it is combined with a relaxation program.

MIGRAINE AND REMEDIAL MASSAGE

Remedial Massage is effective in treating Migraine as the deeper soft tissue work will also free ‘trigger points’ in the muscles and connective tissues.  Remedial Massage and Advanced Remedial Massage also help to restore balance in muscles so realignment can occur.

MIGRAINE AND AROMATHERAPY

Certain oils have been found to be very effective in pain relief or in reducing response to triggers, e.g. digestive oils such as peppermint; painkilling oils such as lavender and lemon; hormone balancing oils such as geranium.

MIGRAINE AND REFLEXOLOGY

By working on particular points, known as reflex points, on the feet, tension in the head and neck can be reduced.  This improves the event through effects on relaxation, sinus congestion, muscle tension, and circulation and attacks will hopefully reduce in number and / or intensity.
